In April 2014 Carrie Hope Fletcher opened the Hopefulforum where her fans the so called "Hopefuls" could hang out and meet new people and talk about things they like and don't like.
I registered very soon after I heard about the forum, but I never was very active and wrote actually stuff. A few months I never even went on there.
But now, because I have much free time, I spent much time on there and I love it. It is a place on the internet where not everyone hates each other, it's a place where people like Newbies and are happy if they can help you.
I haven't been in a really place the last few months, but the last weeks I felt empty. No matter what I did, I felt like a balloon without the needed air. I was just there and things, but they never ment much much to me. Until I started to get more more active in the forum and reading more of the things people said and I felt better. People who had never seen me in real life said that they liked me and I felt good.
It's one thing if you meet people in your school or at work or whatever. You never know if they really like you or just the things you have or can do. But on the internet people mostly like you, because of your mind and opinions and music taste and humor and everything else.
Maybe they even like what you look like when you have a profilepicture, but mostly they like you (if they like you) because you are you.
Many people say that you can't meet people on the internet and make friends, but I ask myself, why? Of course you've never met them in person, but that doesn't mean that you can't be friends.
Friends are not people who you have to see every day. Friends are people you can talk hours to, without talking about anything. Friends are people you like and that you can trust.
So why can't you find those people in the internet.
And how am I supposed to get know people on the other side of the world without the internet?
